10 Aussie Chef Tattoos Served on a Platter
Chefs are the new rockstars, at least in Australia. With increased visibility through reality shows, magazine covers, high-end catalogues, cookbooks, and pop-up-restaurants, celeb-chefs are suddenly everywhere.

Behind the glamour, chefs are primarily artists who create beautiful dishes with their distinct signatures. Working long hours in a high-pressure environment, they have to be slightly zany. It is no wonder then, that our culinary czars have taken to tattoos with a zeal. Just like their edgier counterparts (read: pirates, bikers, ex-convicts), who wear their tattoos like a badge of honor, our Australian master-chefs wear their tattoos with pride and spunk. In professional kitchens around Australia, tattoos have almost become de rigueur like the ubiquitous chef-hat.

Let's check out 10 rad tattoos of our rockstars from the kitchen.

1. Chef Manu Fieldel

The My Kitchen Rules star first got a tattoo at the age of 18 in London. He believes in 'collecting and building' his tattoos. Few know that before becoming a chef, Manu was in the circus. As a memory of his time at the circus, Manu has a tattoo of a clown on the left of his chest, close to his heart.

Who knew that a clown tattoo was no laughing matter? We are touched.

Would you like to sport a custom made temporary tattoo that tells your story, just like Chef Manu Fieldel?

2. Adriano Zumbo

The pastry chef (sometimes called Lord Voldecake) credits Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie for instilling the pastry dream in him. He has the portrait of Gene Wilder donning a top hat as a tattoo on his right arm. Above the Gene Wilder tattoo, lies a scorpion for Zumbo's star sign. He says the Scorpio sign tattoo represents him accurately – 'very sexual, very passionate, very loyal but secretive with a sting'.

We, at Gumtoo think that a temporary star-sign tattoo is a fantastic idea for a first date-your custom fake tattoo will do most of the talking!

3. Chef Giovanni Pilu

Most people mistake the tattoo on his calf for his signature recipe for suckling pig. As an ode to his siblings, Chef Puli has, in fact, etched the names of his 2 brothers and sister Martino, Cri for Christian and Ale for Alessandra.

What an innovative way to demonstrate family love! Get custom made temporary tattoos with your family members' names today at Gumtoo.

Rated as one of Australia's best young chefs to watch, Chef Daniel of the Restaurant Hubert has more than culinary expertise up his sleeve. He is a heavily tattooed punk. Our favorite is the tattoo of the wide-eyed girl on his arm, maybe showing his gentle side to us?

5. Chef Shane Delia

The Spice Journey star and the chef and owner of Maha Restaurant comes from a family who loves to cook and entertain. The chef who has Maltese origins, has a tattoo across his arm that reads 'strength in hospitality' in Maltese. It is his family motto and he strives to live up to it. His other tattoos include his wife's name, his son's name. his daughter's name and the evil eye. We find his daughter's name 'Jayda' across his arm a sweet gesture.

Do you have a family motto that you'd love to sport? Be sure to let us know and we will surely delight you with our custom made tattoo ideas and designs.

6. Chef Benjamin Cooper

Senior Executive Chef at Chin-Chin, the most reviewed restaurant in Melbourne, has a huge Japanese-inspired koi sprawled over his back. Having worked at many Michelin starred- restaurants, it seems apt that Ben has a star tattooed below his ear. If that's not constant motivation, we don't know what is.

A custom removable tattoo in a motivational design/message is a great idea to keep the spirits up, we think.

7. Chef Mike Patrick

The Fancy Hank's chef loves his tattoos and he gets them from all around the world- Colombia, Brooklyn, New York, and Austin, Texas. He believes that the tattoos serve as memoirs of the trips he's taken. Of the many tattoos he has, one of the most interesting ones is the one with his trade tools on his knuckles- 'pots and pans'. These are four-letter words that we approve of!

Any four-letter word fake tattoos that you'd like to sport?

8. Chef Hamish Ingham

Porteno's Chef Ben's first tattoo was an Inca design tattooed in Peru on his right forearm. Since then he has expanded the canvas to his entire body, so much so that more than fifty percent of his body is covered in tattoos. He also plans to get a tattoo on his face! That's a kitchen punk we'd like to meet!

Porteno co-owner and chef, Elvis is also crazy about tattoos. His chest is covered in tattoos, with a script reading ''Esperanza'' (Spanish for hope) and ''Viva la Milonga'' (a style of tango). On his arms he has tattoos ranging from a knife through the skin to his poodle Buddy eating a sock. He believes that all his tattoos tell a story.
